Plantar fasciitis

What is it?

Plantar fasciitis is a painful inflammatory condition to the plantar fascia of the foot. It may also be caused by abnormal pronation of the foot.

The pain normally is felt on the underside of the heel and is most severe when the plantar fascia is stretched, for instance while getting out of bed or standing up from your seat.

Obesity, weight gain, walking on hard surfaces (or hard shoes), shoes without arch support, and inactivity are also associated with the condition. Failment to treat plantar fasciitis often results in a heel spur on the heel bone.
